Race (and 1JZ) Buildup Journal
4/20/2004 - 4/27/2004 - Final Engine Prep
The engine has now been relocated to a friends garage in Houston. I have lengthened several wires on the wiring harness, remade the fuel rail return line, and have plugged all unneeded oil and water outlets. I have removed the oil cooler feed (the silver tube that runs around the back of the engine). It normally returns water from the throttle body/ISC heater (unneeded in Texas), interior heater (unneeded on a race car) and the second turbo (I have a oil only turbo) and the oil cooler. I am relocating the filter and using a air-to-oil cooler instead. I have also installed a new timing belt, and found the correct serpentine belt to run without the AC condenser (the same as you need on a MKIV tt to do the same thing). You need a 73 inch long 21cm wide micro-V belt available at any auto parts store. The water pump pulley is held on with nylock nuts and a single washer using the original studs.
